The motif on this T-shirt is my very personal, abstract view of Vienna from a distance. The idea for this design came to me at the top of the Heide, that wonderful mountain on the outskirts of the city, from which you can overlook the entire expanse of Vienna.
Instead of rigid lines, I opted for a lively block technique reminiscent of modern mosaics or pixel art, stylistically moving between abstract expressionism and urban art. In the color palette, I captured the soul of the city:
In the lower area, warm earthy tones like terracotta, brown, and ochre form the foundation. The striking yellow is a deliberate homage to imperial Vienna and Schönbrunn Palace. However, the further the gaze extends into the distance, the more the colors change: I consciously use cool blue and gray tones there to represent how the city slowly disappears into the fog on the horizon.
The skyline extends horizontally across the chest, with the different heights of the color fields lending an almost musical dynamism to the design – like the pulse of a metropolis. The fine black contours subtly delineate the buildings, while the visible brushstroke emphasizes the handmade, unique character of my work.
